I enjoy just about anything that involves using my natural creativity, whether it be taking photos, painting, floral design, crocheting, sewing, and other crafts. I learned that I had a natural "eye" for photography when my daughter was born in 2007 and have since jumped right into learning all about lighting, composition, posing, editing, and how to use all of those complicated buttons on my camera and lenses.
It is quite the surprise to most, but I actually have BA and MA degrees in Psychology. I have worked very closely with developmentally disabled children, normally developing children, and adults with Alzheimer's Disease. In 2010, I moved to Reno and focused on being a mommy while playing with flowers at a local florist owned by close family friends for a while while starting up my photography business. Now that my daughter is more self-sufficient and the flower shop owners have retired, I am back in the research world as my primary job, but I still make sure to devote time to my love of photography, which I find to be a major stress reliever. I also spend time as an assistant coach for my daughter's travel softball team.
